This week I presented to about 30 parents, to help them and their children use an iPad for learning. We covered many topics including Apple IDs, Family Sharing and apps for learning.
One of the biggest challenges that schools and parents face is providing an Apple ID to students that are under the age of 13. Family Sharing is a great solution to address this.
However, in this instance, the iPads are 'Family Funded', which means parents are expected to provide the iPad, not the school. The challenge with this model is that sometimes parents are also left to manage the device.
Other options like the Apple Device Enrolment Program (DEP), are available to schools. And DEP combined with Apple School Manager is certainly looking like the best model for modern schools.
